Drax Zaster is a name I came up with while playing Ultima III some 20 years ago. In real life I am Richard Rosengren, a Programmer/Analyst for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, which translates into: I make web pages for the Tampa International Airport here in Tampa, FL. I've been into web design for nearly ten years. I started with Netscape Composer, then learned HTML, and I am currently comfortable with DreamWeaver and FrontPage, though nothing beats coding yourself if you want it done right.

I have learned JavaScript, Perl, and VBScript, and I enjoy creating database-driven sites, usually using MS Access and Active Server Pages. I have been with the HCAA nearly 18 months, spent two years as a client support specialist for SAXOTECH, and I was a web developer and programmer in Educational Outreach at USF for 3 years.

I am a native Floridian (hooray) and graduated from USF with a BA in Creative Writing and an MA in Medieval History. Basically, misery loves company and my two degrees are constantly crying in each other's arms. But I digress... I also possess a graduate certificate in Wed Design and Development, and I am a third of the way to MA degrees in both Library Science and Instructional Technology. Maybe one day I'll make a decision and actually finish one of those degrees. It is more likely, however, that I will decide to get my PhD in English at USF, and move into a career in teaching at some point.

I recently (October 28, 2005) married my high school sweetheart, Lorie. We were married at Disney at the Boardwalk Resort, Sea Breeze Point gazebo. We had about 20 people at the wedding and about 30 at the reception. For the honeymoon, we spent a week travelling in Germany. We went to Munich, Berlin, and Kittendorf.

Sports-wise, I cheer for a variety of teams. I am from Miami, so I am naturally a Dolphin fan. However, when I left Miami, the only other professional team was the Heat (whom I also root for). Therefore, I have favorites outside of Miami for the other two major sports - I cheer for the Tampa Bay Lightning (defending Stanley Cup Champs) and the Atlanta Braves (when you have cable, who do you see most often, especially if your hometown doesn't have a baseball team?). I have nothing against the Marlins, Panthers, or Bucs (although I will say that the world has not been quite right since the Bucs started winning again...), and I will root for them unless they are playing an above-mentioned team.

I have, in the last several years, gotten back into role playing, mostly Silver Age Sentinels and Dungeons and Dragons. I have created character generators for both systems, which are accessible through the links above. I plan to perfect these (the D&D one is quite outdated now, and has been for a while, and I'd like to make a d20 version of the SAS generator), but they are good for starters. I also am planning an extensive campaign in the Forgotten Realms lands of Maztica, which I will keep posted on this site as well.

I miss my Atari 800. It still works, but it is carefully tucked away due to lack of space. Ahh, what memories. Sometimes the simplest games are the best, like Asteroids and Space Invaders. Or the old text-based adventure games from Infocom, like Zork and Enchanter and Suspended. Whenever I can I purchase versions of these games for my PC just to be able to play them again. I am always looking for a few specific games that I probably will not be able to ever find, like a Broderbund game galled Drol. What can you do?

Now I spend a lot of time using the newer systems, like the Nintendo Game Cube and the Sony PS2. I still like to play games on my PC, but games like Animal Crossing, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Metroid Prime, and Sonic Adventure Battle 2 cannot be replicated on a PC. So, I go back and forth between the two.

My next door neighbor, Alan, and I (at my old apartment, where I am currently moving out from) just finished Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. We enjoyed it so much we played for a year, in no hurry to finish it. Currently, he is replaying Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance while I am going through old stuff and deciding what stays and what goes for the move (to be compelted by Feb 28, 2006).

Please, enjoy this site, and I hope to do a much better job of keeping it current.
