Drax Zaster's
Depeche Mode B-Sides
Web Site

This site is dedicated to the best of Depeche Mode's music - their B-sides! Put simply, these are recordings not generally available on any of their albums, but usually as part of a vinyl "dance version" or some other re-recording. As with most B-sides (so named because their were the flip side of a 45 recording of a released song), they tend to show the ability of a band when pressed to release a single. Following is a listing of Depeche Mode B-sides I own, and on what release they are on.
Gold Icon Kaleid (instrumental) - Policy of Truth CD
Silver Icon Memphisto (instrumental) - Enjoy the Silence CD
Gold Icon Christmas Island (by M. Gore & A. Wilder) (instrumental) - A Question of Lust LP
Silver Icon Ice Machine (live) (by V. Clarke) - Blasphemous Rumours Limited Release CD
Gold Icon In Your Memory (by A. Wilder) - People Are People LP
Silver Icon Sibeling (instrumental) - Enjoy the Silence CD
Gold Icon (Set Me Free) Remotivate Me - Master and Servant LP
Silver Icon Dangerous - Personal Jesus CD
Gold Icon Sea of Sin - World in My Eyes CD
Silver Icon Happiest Girl - World in My Eyes CD
Gold Icon Shout (by V. Clarke) - New Life LP
Silver Icon Fools (by A. Wilder) - Love In Itself LP
Gold Icon The Great Outdoors (by M. Gore & A. Wilder) (Instrumental) - Get the Balance Right LP
All songs written by M.L. Gore unless otherwise noted

Each page has a brief opinion and a MIDI of the song, when available. The MIDI is set to load, but not to autoplay, so be warned. I have to admit the DM MIDIs sound pretty good, but music made with synthsizers seems to lend itself pretty well to covers made with synthesizers, don't you think? At any rate, thanks to all those who have taken the time to recreate these, and any other songs, as MIDI files.

I have to admit that I have become lax in my pursuit of B-sides. The release of Songs of Faith and Devotion was not my favorite, and I haven't taken the time to try any of the newer releases (like Ultra). I will, and once I get some of the long versions, I'll have my opinions of those, along with their MIDIs, right here with the rest.
