Character
Generator
This page is designed to quickly
and efficiently create characters (both PC's and NPC's) for the Advanced
Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game. I have blended the rules from
the first and second editions of the game, and kept what I liked from
each. You will find bards, half-orcs, and assassins on this page. Simply
click on your preferred method to generate characters, and enjoy!
The "Keep Scores" button will
generate a character sheet, along with the appropriate saving throws,
using a Perl program It also saves the generated character to another
database, and can be viewed by yourself, or others, on subsequent visits
by using the See Saved Characters button. If you return to this page
from the Perl-generated page, the form will be reset.
You can read more about what
this page does, and what I hope for it to do, under the next table.
So far this page accurately
generates:
- Hit Points (Single and Multi-Classes)
- Base THAC0 for all classes
and lowest THAC0 for Multi-Classes
- Racial bonuses/penalties
for ability scores
- Exceptional Strength for
Warrior Classes with an 18 STR
- Monk character abilities
are based on an old Dragon Magazine article. They use d6 for
hit points, and their abilities are different.
- Bard abilities are taken
from the 2nd Edition rules.
It also has several checks in
place to prevent characters which would not normally be allowed.
- Alignment Checks
- Paladins may only be
Lawful Good
- Thieves may not be Lawful
Good
- Monks must be Lawful
- Bards must be some form
of Neutral
- Rangers must be Good
- Druids must be True
Neutral
- Assassins must be Evil
- Races and Classes
- Checks races and classes
against each other and disallows incompatable matches (Dwarf with
Magic-User, for example). Similarly checks multi-classed characters
against races.
The Perl program that this page
accesses also currently generates information for characters.
- Generates Thieving Abilities
(for Assassins and Monks as well, in their altered states). Also figures
in dexterity bonuses and racial bonus/penalties.
- Generates spells, by level
and number, for Magic-Users, Illusionists, Clerics, and Druids, Paladins,
and Rangers, and Bards.
- Generates Base Saving Throws
by class and level. Assigns lowest scores for Multi-Class saves.
